Join our team as our new Payroll Manager!

The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day payroll operations of the Payroll Department to include supervising the activities of payroll administrators, mastering the payroll software and training administrators on the software, and building and maintaining relationships with internal and external auditors and federal, state and local tax agencies. This position will ensure that the payroll functions are completed timely, accurately, efficiently and in compliance with all government regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the processing of payrolls for multiple clients
  • Oversee the registration for new tax jurisdiction accounts
  • Ensure timely remittance of payroll tax obligations
  • Lead the quarterly tax reconciliation and filing processes to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Direct, guide and follow through on new client implementation
  • Research regulatory law changes and ensure compliance
  • Manage the response and follow up for audit requests and tax notices
  • Identify, recommend and implement updates to payroll processing software, payroll processes and procedures
  • Manage the payroll team and provide direction
  • Provide training and development for the payroll team
  • Participate in a variety of special projects, process improvements and analysis, as necessary
  • Perform other duties as needed

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in working with federal, state and local tax laws as related to payroll
  • Strong knowledge of payroll protocols, particularly with IRS regulations, multi-state payroll tax laws, tax reporting, state and local employment regulations
  • Experience with Evolution payroll software a plus, but not required
  • Experience managing a Payroll Department within an accounting firm a plus
