The Payroll Specialist position will be responsible for processing weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls for our client base. The successful candidate must have knowledge of payroll tax rates and regulations, and be computer savvy and highly detail-oriented to provide the highest level of accuracy and thoroughness in all of the payroll duties, which include:

  • Preparing Federal, state and local tax returns and deposits during quarter and year end
  • Ensuring tax deposits are submitted in a timely manner through electronic payment submissions
  • Assisting in year-end processing and reporting, including W-2s and W-2Cs through SSA
  • Filing amended returns as needed for Federal, state, local and unemployment taxes
  • Assisting accountants with payroll report requests or payroll tax questions

Position Requirements:

  • Processing of weekly, bi-weekly, monthly payrolls for our client base
  • Processing of Quarter and Year End Returns
  • Entering employee information into payroll program with a high degree of attention to detail for accuracy
  • Communicating via phone and e-mail with payroll clients and staff members
  • Answering payroll-related questions from firm staff as well as client base
  • Running payroll reports and reviewing for accuracy
  • Proficiency in MS Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe
  • Monitoring, addressing, and resolving payroll-related emails
  • Experience with the preparation of quarterly and annual payroll filings, including W-2s
  • Bringing to the attention of the Payroll Manager any unusual problems with regard to the preparation of payrolls or payroll returns
  • Ability to read and understand labor laws related to payroll
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines – particularly at end-of-quarter and around holidays
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, only when necessary
  • Ability to prioritize and multi task
  • Ability to be a team player
  • Quick learner, particularly with new software programs

The following is a PLUS:

  • Associates Degree
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Basic understanding of multi-state payroll practices and laws
